Now, it is 1:21 in the middle of the night. I m not burning the midnight oil as I slept quite a lot in the day. Today is another fruitless day for me as I only read a bit of the animal farm guide book. About half of the book. And I have read the lord of the flies. (I have reached a point that I decided not to read on anymore to leave some as time killer at school when there is recess or free period without teachers.) I used to read the lord of the flies. That was after my sec 3 final year exam. I swore that if I didn’t finish the book within maybe five days I would fail my English and I couldn’t go back early. I finished reading then. Unfortunately, I really did not understand a single thing except that I was aware about the book’s content was about a group of boys isolated on an island, killing one another. I always thought that the boys were all dead. But indeed, the got rescued. I m so sorry about this. The same thing happens on my experience when I read the English teacher and a miserable world. Actually, all these classics are wonderful books but I was too stupid to appreciate them.
A quote from the cover of my BARRON’s 3500 SAT WORDS LIST notebook: Althought the distance between will space out us, may we remrmber our true friendship and blessing. Every time I see the notebook, this ridiculous sentence should remind me of the importance of speaking good English’s importance.
Yeah, I watched a documentary on Jackie Chan yesterday. And I found out that he is really a unlearned person who only received his education in an Chinese traditional opera and acrobatic school. His English is extremely lousy. It is very hard to imagine that such a super star who has a great impact on Hollywood has such bad standard in English speaking. I think he makes 2 mistakes for every 5 words he speaks. When he is being interviewed, he answers the questions with dramatically huge body gestures. He is able to convey his ideas to the audiences through simple worlds and actions. Anyway, I think he is forgivable. He is always on a Chinese route that project the image of a typical Chinese man to the west. Hence it is normal for a Chinese not knowing English. The Americans should not be too critical about this. And he did not have the chance to have proper education. Very likely that he learnt English all by himself in some Chinatown in Australia. Jackie Chan is an exemption. However, for the others, good speeches can give other a good first and many many good impressions about the capabilities and characters of that person. Speaking English is a kind of basic skill for existence. Thus why I die die must improve!
Ok, I will publish this post tomorrow. Good nite!
